Coat

Description

An infant's calico-printed cotton coat with yellow and white vertical stripes. Overlaid on these stripes are columns of red and black lozenges. It closes in front with two mother of pearl buttons. This infant's coat and a woman's hip length jacket (sacque) were made from a dress worn by Margaretta Sophia Howard Ridgely (1824-1904) prior to her 1851 marriage to cousin Charles Ridgely (1830-1872) of Hampton.
