Maryland in the Movement: Resources for Teaching Civil Rights in the Classroom
Governor Wes Moore declared 2024 to be the Year of Civil Rights in Maryland. Did you know that our state was home to activist luminaries such as Thurgood Marshall and Gloria Richardson, as well as individuals including Dr. Lillie Carroll Jackson and Judge Robert M. Bell? MCHC welcomes educators at any level to join us and learn about the many unique stories and perspectives represented in the Passion & Purpose: Voices of Civil Rights Activists exhibition. Participating teachers will tour the exhibition with MCHC education staff and Marcus Nicks, founder of History Heals Consulting, as well as handle original materials from the MCHC Library collection, and leave with materials to support classroom instruction. Registration is required.
