Oil on canvas portrait painting of Catherine Rosalba Cave Diffenderffer (1799-1874), 1833, by Jacob Eichholtz (1776-1842). Catherine was born in Virginia and married John Diffenderfer (1775-1835)in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1823. The couple had five children. She is buried in Baltimore Cemetery. Diffenderffer wears the popular gigot or leg-of-mutton style sleeve of the 1830s.
