Chariot at Tolchester
Description
A costumed driver standing in a chariot pulled by two grey horses on the riding track at Tolchester, Maryland. In the background are three figures observing from a grandstand. Tolchester was the site of the Tolchester Beach Amuseument Park, which consisted of a bathing beach, amusement park, racetrack, and hotel, and was in operation from 1877 to 1962. The Kent County park was a popular vacation destination for Baltimoreans as it was only 27 miles across the Chesapeake Bay and the Tolchester Steamboat Company ran daily excursions to Tolchester from Baltimore, Maryland.
