Dr. William Duncan McKim

Description

Photographic portrait of Dr. William Duncan McKim (1855-1935) in a gilt frame. McKim, of the prominent Maryland family, was born in Baltimore. He received his Bachelors degree from Columbia University in 1875. He continued his education and received both his Masters and M.D. from Columbia in 1878. McKim practiced medicine in New York City from 1878-1892. He later studied abroad and earned a PhD at the University of Leipzig in Germany. He lived and practiced medicine in Washington, D.C. for the last twenty years of his life. McKim was married three times, widowed twice, and had no children. He died in Pasadena, California on summer vacation and is buried in the McKim plot in Green Mount Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland.
