Margaret Darlington Bennett Cottman O’Callaghan on ‘Tom Fool’

Oil on canvas painting of "Margaret Darlington Bennett Cottman O'Callaghan on 'Tom Fool'" by Franklin Brooke Voss. Margaret (1896-1971) was born in Boston, Massachusetts and had two sisters. In 1917, she married Thomas Edmund Cottman (1878-1931) of Baltimore. He was president of "Cottman Clarence Company." Her husband's family estate was "Westburn" in the Green Spring Valley. Sometime in the 1930s, she met and married her second husband Colonel Cyril Tait O'Callaghan (1889-1984) of Carlow, Ireland. Cyril served with the Somerset Yeomanry, 1st Royal Dragoons, British Army in World War I and was awarded the Military Cross in 1919. He became lieutenant colonel of the North Somerset Yeomanry in 1929. She died in 1971 and is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge Massachusetts.
