View of Marsh Market fountain, on the old site of the Maryland Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, as seen looking east on Baltimore Street. Also shows the "C. S. McDonald and Company, Lottery, and Exchange" business house on the southeast corner of Baltimore Street and Market Place. This full-plate daguerreotype is part of a series of photographs considered to be the first comprehensive photographic recording of Baltimore City.
