Portrait of Fielding Lucas, Jr.

Description

Daguerreotype portrait of Fielding Lucas Jr., (1781-1854), a Baltimore bookseller and publisher. A native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, he was raised in Baltimore by his uncle, Fielding Lucas, Sr. In 1810, he married Eliza Mary Carrell (1788-1863), daughter of John Carrell of Philadelphia. The couple were parents to: Edward Carrell (1811-1872), married Catherine Meline; Fielding (1812-1853); John Carrell (1814-1844); Charles Zachary (1816-1857); William Fielding (1819-1897), married Mary Roberts; Mary (1819-1849), married Louis Augustus de Barth Walbach; Henry Ambrose (1822-1872), married Harriet Hooper; George Aloysius (1824-1909); Francis (1826-); and Ellen (1828-1888), married Mark Willcox.
