Portrait of James Howard McHenry

Description

Daguerreotype portrait of James Howard McHenry (1820-1888), a Baltimore lawyer and developer. McHenry was the son of John McHenry (1791-1822) of Baltimore, and the grandson of James McHenry (1753-1816), Revolutionary War patriot. He married Sarah "Sallie" Nicholas Cary in 1855, and the couple were parents to: Julianna Howard (1856-1900); James (1857-1858); Wilson Cary (1859-1963), married Edith Dave; Ellen Carr (1860-1947), married Robert Brent; John (1863-1939); Sophia Howard (1868-1959), married Charles Morton Stewart; and Charles Howard (1871-1874).
