Portrait of Rebecca Ann Cushing

Description

Daguerreotype portrait of Rebecca Ann Cushing (1814-1881), daughter of Joseph Cushing (1781-1852), President of the Savings Bank of Baltimore, and Rebecca Edmands (1782-1836). In 1835, she married John Wiley Edmands (1809-1877), a Massachusetts industrialist and politician who served as a United States Congressman in the mid-1850s. The couple had ten children: Amos Lawrence (1838-1909); Rebecca Cushing (1840-1843); Joseph Cushing (1842-1879); Thomas Sprague (1844-1898); Abbott Lawrence (1846-1849); John Duncan (1846-1916); Wiley Sheldon (1848-1915); Frank (1849-1911); Farwell James (1851-1884); and Horace (1854-1914).
