Sampler

Description

Sewing sampler featuring an image of a large house surrounded by trees, flowers, and a pond with a row of ducks. A stag lays at the top of the composition flanked by two vases of flowers. The inscription at the bottom reads "Sarah Elizabeth Haines/ Sampler worked in her 8th year September 28th, 1848/ By this work the world may see what/ care my parents took of me/ Andrew Haines/ Sarah Haines." A strawberry vine border is worked into the edges of the sampler.
