Group portrait of two women and one man outside of the Cortez W. Peters Business School located at 1317 Druid Hill Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland. The building sign reads, "Cortez W. Peters Business School Day and Night Classes - Class of 1948." In 1934, Cortez W. Peters, Sr (1906-1964) founded the first school in Washington, D.C. and over the next seven years opened two more locations, in Baltimore (1935) and Chicago (1941). These were some of the first vocational schools to prepare African American students for business and civil services.
