Watercolor on paper drawing of "View of Norfolk From Town Point", ca. 1796-1798, from the Latrobe Sketchbooks, by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. This scene features the marshy bank of the Elizabeth River from the Town Point peninsula, a harbor packed with sailing ships, and the city of Norfolk in the background. Latrobe emigrated from England in late-1795. He arrived in Norfolk, Virginia in March 1796 and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1798.
