View of the Great Falls of Niagara
Pencil, ink, and watercolor on paper drawing of "View of the Great Falls of Niagara", April 1, 1798, from the Latrobe Sketchbooks, by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. He describes this piece as "drawn from a sketch and description by D'Leandella, and corrected from his recollection. The view is taken from the road above the fall, from a bank elevated about 120 feet above the water. The edge of the Cataract being an internal curve across which the view is taken only about one half of the fall appears.
