Stitches to Riches: Reusing and Decorating Textiles with MICA Students

Enjoy light cocktails and art-making while learning how to make old textiles feel brand new. In partnership with Scrap Bmore and MICA student curators from the newest MCHC exhibition Material and Memories: Elizabeth Talford Scott and the Crazy Quilt Tradition, participants will discuss mending and personalization as a form of sustainable practice. Participants will customize clothes or tote bags with ribbon, patches, embroidery, and countless other materials. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own clothes, bags, or other fabrics. A limited supply of free tote bags will be provided for decorating. Museum admission required.
